Nicholas was admitted as a lawyer in 2022 and called to bar in May 2025. He is currently a reader with Denning Chambers.
He practices predominantly in criminal and industrial/employment law. Whilst completing his law degree he worked for Employer Services as an industrial relations consultant, advising clients on dismissal, award interpretation and the NES.
In 2022 he served as associate to Vice President O’Connor of the Industrial Court of Queensland and Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. During that period Nicholas observed a range of matters including full bench arbitrations, unfair dismissal, workers’ compensation appeals, discrimination matters and more than three dozen conciliations.
He then moved to Darwin to gain advocacy experience with the Director of Public Prosecutions. Beginning as a summary prosecutor in late 2022 Nicholas quickly gained trial experience in the Darwin Local Court. The matters varied from traffic to serious aggravated assaults and domestic violence offences. He then spent time in Crown Prosecutions and appeared almost daily in the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory. This work included appearing for the Crown in bail reviews, sentences and breach proceedings.
He returned to Queensland in late 2023 to work with Queensland Police Prosecutions in Toowoomba, continuing to gain valuable trial experience. There he was often tasked more complex summary trials, sentences, and civil domestic violence applications.
As a result of his work across two jurisdictions, Nicholas is well-versed in both common law and uniform evidence, and has experience with special witness, adverse witness, and tendency applications.
