Nicholas was admitted as lawyer in August 2022. Prior to admission he served as the associate to Vice President O’Connor of the Industrial Court of Queensland and Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. He was called to the bar in May 2025 after working in Queensland and the Northern Territory as a prosecutor. He now practises predominantly in criminal and employment law but also accepts briefs in estate matters.
His employment practice covers applicant and respondent work in state and federal jurisdictions. This includes underpayment claims, general protections/adverse action, workers’ compensation and anti-discrimination matters. He acts at all stages of proceedings, including at the pleading and conciliation stage.
Nicholas is regularly briefed to prosecute in the Northern Territory, and accepts legally aided criminal defence work throughout Queensland. He has experience in quasi-criminal matters, most recently having acted for the respondent in Kea Investments v Wikeley [2026] QSC 37 (contempt of court).
This combination of practice areas means Nicholas is particularly well positioned to assist clients in employment matters which involve allegations of criminal conduct, either by an employer or an employee.
As a result of his work across two jurisdictions, Nicholas is well-versed in both common law and uniform evidence, and has experience with special witness, adverse witness, and tendency applications. He has a keen interest in the rules of evidence and can provide fulsome advice on evidentiary questions as required.
