Matthew practises in criminal, family law, domestic violence, commercial, regulatory, industrial and employment matters.
Before coming to the private Bar, Matthew worked at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Brisbane, Ipswich and Southport. He has experience in all areas of criminal law, including trial preparation, sentences, bail applications, committals, disclosure issues, evidentiary disputes and appeals.
Matthew was previously Associate to two Judges of the District Court of Queensland, where he gained broad exposure to criminal and civil trials, sentencing proceedings, civil applications and appellate work.
Since coming to the Bar, Matthew has appeared in a broad range of matters, including as counsel for the successful applicant in the contested parenting final hearing in McMillan & West (No 3) [2026] FedCFamC2F 29.
Matthew holds a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and has a particular interest in business start-ups. He also has commercial experience from working in marketing and commercial operations for an Australian agribusiness and in the regulated gaming industry, including in competition compliance, commercial contracting and brand protection.
